SBCA students celebrated Black History Month with a variety of activities. These 3-6 year old students learned not only about the achievements of numerous African Americans such as Ruby Bridges, George Washington Carver, Matthew Henson and Black Cowboys, but also about character traits and overcoming hardships. They learned about potato chips and bus boycotts, along with Freedom Songs and jazz. They heard daily announcement about African Americans from all aspects of American History. They were treated to a Living History presentation visit from Wally "Famous" Amos, founder of the Famous Amos chocolate chip cookie franchise. The staff hopes that the seeds of awareness, tolerance, and fairness have been planted within these young minds.
